THE FOG – The Gospel of Gnosis – Chapter Three and Four
The Gospel of Gnosis – According to Philip
Chapter Three
PARABLE OF THE INN
The world is like an Inn where you stay temporarily. None of the furniture is really yours. We will all be gone soon, for no one can stay long in an Inn. For those who are self-serving do not take the resurrection seriously. (3.1) They are concerned with the surface and their spirit is depleted which causes them to rest before the time to rest has arrived. Their blindness leads them down paths of deception which causes the spirit to sleep so when it awakens from its nightmare it is afraid and lost. (3.2)
Chapter Four
PARABLE OF THE MOUNTAIN GROVE
There was a beautiful grove atop a mountain which cast a warm light on the forest below. Lovely and fragrant, it was said that it could satisfy any hunger or cure any illness. A sick and crippled man heard about this mountain but could not make the journey because the road was long and the mountain high. He yearned to go but could never fulfill his dream. But as he became sicker he felt desperate and reached out to a close friend who was both wise and capable.(4.1) The friend made ladders and cut steps in the mountain where needed. By pushing and pulling the sick man was able to make it to the summit where he was immediately healed. When the man felt the healing he awakened to the love of Christ consciousness which pulled and pushed him to the top of the mountain. (4.2) He then knew it was his faith journey which healed him and not his presence atop the mountain. As he descended the mountain he made an offering of his life’s pain to the Creator for the common good. (4.3)
PARABLE OF A MOUNTAIN FILLED FOREST
A follower asked Yeshua, “how can I be raised to eternal joy and peace”. Yeshua answered, “it is only nothing that can give rise to something. If it were any other way then peace and joy would never be. (4.4) Take for example a mountain filled with forest. The leaves and branches of the trees spread shade everywhere. Surely this mountain forest does not seek birds and animals, but they all come on their own to nest and gather. Or think of a great sea that draws all the rivers and springs and is vast without limits and deep beyond measure. Surely this ocean does not seek fish and scaly creatures. But they all dwell there on their own. Those of you who seek peace and joy are like these birds and fish. You need only soothe your minds and live quietly. Then in practicing these teachings you will not have to seek peace and joy, they will simply be there like the forest and the ocean. This is how nothing gives rise to something”. (4.5)
